Work has begun on the installation of the new finger posts for Barnstaple town centre as part of the BID wayfinding project. The five year BID business plan, which was created following extensive consultation and feedback from traders, earmarks new and improved signage to key landmarks as being of crucial importance to the town centre in order to help move people around the town and show what is available.
The new posts are made of high grade stainless steel, resistant to salt corrosion, with each finger post colour coded to link into the free town map produced last year which is currently being updated and re-printed. This means any visitors should be able to navigate their way around Barnstaple town centre much more easily than in the past.
“The new finger posts are a significant project for the town”, said Dane Stanley, BID Chairman. “Once this phase is complete we will then move on to the next step of installing colour signage for each individual street in the BID area. The whole wayfinding project will also link into the development of a new, commercial Barnstaple town website, as part of delivering an integrated signage system for the town.”
