Engagement with businesses is crucial to the development of successful BID Proposals. The formal work for developing a BID scheme in Barnstaple commenced from April 2008; having previously been discussed in detail within the Barnstaple Town Centre Management Partnership. Over 40 businesses were seen on a one to one basis, to ‘sound out’ on the idea of a BID and discuss in detail what a BID could potentially deliver.
This was followed by a formal BID launch event to Barnstaple businesses in October 2008 and a series of street meetings held throughout October and November where over 50 businesses put forward a range of ideas and suggestions.
A business survey was circulated in March 2009, inviting business to score by level of importance a range of potential projects to be delivered through a BID.
The results of this survey are detailed below, along with a summary of the Street Meetings.
The one on one meetings have continued throughout the BID development; if you would like to arrange a meeting please call Sue Rawle on 01271 321049 who will be happy to see you at your convenience.
The consultation will form the basis of the draft BID Proposal that will be circulated to businesses in August 2009.
